In the midst of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) launching its “Plant Peace” project to promote the importance of the cessation of war and achievement of world peace, the Plant Peace event was held on July 30 in Sunkhani Village, Nuwakot for the first time in Nepal.
The Plant Peace Project is a system designed to offer peace education, deliver necessities of life, plant trees, present children’s books and etc. to the selected recipient countries by means of various events and fundraising activities held by state sponsors. It is a system of continuing peace education and interaction between villagers.

The 1

Through the introduction of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War proclaimed by HWPL, they were educated on the importance of the cessation of war and achievement of world peace.
Proclaimed by the Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL and 20 international law experts of the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, the Declaration of P

eace and Cessation of War includes provisions aimed at resolving religious conflicts, prohibiting distribution of arms, expanding peace education and a culture of peace and so on.
After this, the IWPG distributed 3 orange and guava seedlings per family and planted grapefruit trees near the community hall, so the fruits could be shared among the people of the village. About 500 fruit trees were distributed to Sunkhani Village through the event.
Regarding future activity plans following the 1
st Nepal Plant Peace program, the IWPG and WPD-Nepal commented, “We are planning to gradually improve steps in order for all schools in Sunkhani Village to redefine their curriculum and establish peace education as a regular course through activities such as picture drawing and essay writing under the theme of peace. Also, we are going to conduct a peace training, with local village women playing a central role and initiate a “Matriarchal Peace Movement”, so that women may instill a spirit of peace in their family members.”
